Voices of the Cliff host Douglas Scherer has worked for over 20 years as a technology leader and relationship manager. Since organizational change often accompanies technological change — leading a wide variety of technology projects helped shape his perspective on how hopes, fears, beliefs, and values touch the transformations of individuals and groups.
That interest led to research where he interviewed top tier technology executives about their leadership journeys. Part of the results revealed relationships between transformations they went through during their careers and the development of caring leadership values. He presented these findings at the 2010 Academy of Management Conference.
Douglas was a faculty member of the Columbia University Executive Masters in Technology Management for eight years and created its core course on knowledge management and organizational learning. He was also faculty and curriculum chair of a technology certification program at the University where he introduced the program’s first on-line course, and supervised and co-authored a book-video series by the program’s faculty. He holds an Ed.D. in organizational learning and leadership from Columbia University.
